Labour sets plans for local power

The Labour Party in Salford has detailed its plans to give more power to local communities. The Party has stated in its Manifesto that more money will be controlled at community level. Across the City the amounts involved will be about £3.5m every year. The money will be directed towards street scene issues, highways improvements and open space maintenance and enhancement. In addition a pilot will be started whereby local communities will be able to scrutinize any public service in their area.

Labour sets plans for local power

Keith Mann, Lead Member for Neighbourhoods said:

“Labour is pressing ahead these progressive policies as we believe that local people should be able to affect local matters and that the resulting decisions will be better.

Unfortunately, despite mouthing support for communities, Conservatives and Liberal Democrats want to retain power for themselves and not share it with local people.

Labour believes in the common sense of people and trusts them unlike the opposition.”

If you want a say in your local community vote Labour on May 3rd. Nothing else makes sense.

They just don’t know when to stop fibbing in Swinton!

They just cannot help fibbing!!!!!

The Fib Dems are still shamelessly bending the truth! This time it is in Swinton South.

Liberal Democrat candidate Steve Cooke claims:
Labour has cut 216 police officers…and I want to see more police on the beat

The Truth:

According to the Chief Inspector for Salford there are more police officers in service than there were four years ago. The number of PCSOs has been increased, not cut thus giving more officers ‘on the beat’.

Steve Cooke claims:
Salford’s Council Tax is one of the highest in the country

The Truth:
Salford is 61st highest in the country and while Salford tax has gone up by 3.2% Lib Dems have raised the council tax in Stockport, their flagship council, by 4.72%!

Steve Cooke claims to have been working the people of Swinton South for the last year! One has to ask, what then was he doing for the people of Claremont he is supposed to represent during that time?

I suggest that voting Lib Dem in Claremont OR Swinton South is a big mistake unless you are happy with this kind of behaviour!

Vote Labour in both wards and city wide and lets get rid of the Lib Dems!

Salfords Senior Citizens are important people too!

That’s why since 1997 The Labour Government has worked endlessly to offer the health services those people worked for and to provide them with the rights that would lift them out of poverty.Since 1997 this has meant the average pensioner household is £1500 a year better off in real terms. We want to do more and free eye tests, flu vaccinations, Winter Heating Allowance, Pension Credit and the creation of a Pensions Service dedicated to the needs of pensioners has been a start in the right direction. One recent policy that has made a major difference was the introduction of free local bus travel for every pensioner, as a right throughout the UK

Charlie engages with the senior citizens in Broughton!

Charles McIntyre, Broughton candidate says,

“We in the Labour Party in Salford, are delighted that our Government has introduced free travel for the over 60’s and disabled people on local buses, trains and trams. The transport policy has allowed countless people freedom in their everyday lives

Vote Labour in Broughton, and city wide, because we care about ALL our citizens.

Fixing pot holes in Weaste is not pot luck with Steve Race!

Potholes in the road seem to be breeding but what are our Lib Dem councillors doing about the problem? For one thing they are voting to reduce Council spending on the repairs! This is Something Steve Race has pledged to address.

Steve Race is getting pot holes fixed in Weaste & Seedley.

The Lib Dems failures are no surprise to Steve, the pothole shown in the picture above is right outside the home of a Weaste & Seedley Lib Dem councillor’s home! It was pointed out to Steve by a local resident who said ‘this pot hole has been here for ages!’ If they can’t be bothered getting their own streets sorted, what hope have you got that your Lib Dem councillors will repair yours?

Hard-working Labour Campaigner Steve Race has managed to get some potholes repaired. Steve said ‘I want a better standard of repair for Weaste & Seedley. I want them to be fixed quickly, and for the work to last. Let me know if there are potholes on your street and I will try to get them fixed’ You can contact Steve by clicking here.

The Race is on to save Weaste!

Steve Race has been working hard with local residents to sort out problems the Lib Dems cannot handle!

Steve Race engages with GMTPE to get a safer Weaste

A recent example of Steve Race helping to sort out your problems is the street lighting around Eccles New Road. For months, streetlights haven’t been working because their power is linked to the Metrolink, and Metrolink were reluctant to turn the power off, so light bulbs went unreplaced.

Steve was concerned that this was a real problem as the safety of the neighbourhood was at risk, and residents agreed.

Steve says ‘I have managed to get this problem fixed with the help of GMPTE and Metrolink – all streetlights should now be shining brightly around Eccles New Road! I just don’t understand why the Lib Dem councillors could not sort it, don’t they care?’
