SUMMARY OF SOME LOCAL ACTIVITIES GIVEN TO ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING JANUARY 2010.

 

 

1) Councillors held regular public meetings and kept people informed by letter and local newssheets on key issues affecting residents throughout the year including

  • Worsley Road sewer collapse.
  • Cream line Dairies planning proposals.
  • GUS Planning Proposals.

2) Best year for Salford GCSE results St Patrick�s has 100 % pass rate for second year running.

3) Cllr�s working with Building Schools for the Future to benefit Winton High Schools.

4) Port Salford approved: Cllr�s worked to make sure local residents get the best deal possible from the scheme and continue to ensue this will have a minimum impact on local people and to maximise opportunities.

5) New Council housing for Winton.

6) Supported Residents Groups and voluntary groups in the ward. Including setting up a Winton Social Committee to support vulnerable people in Winton

7) Alley gating to take place on Hardy St by April 2010.

8) Four Newsletters and our Xmas Card circulated across the whole ward this year.

9) Held two Winton Festivals to raise money for local activities and three Turkey bingos.

10) More Christmas lights this year in Winton and lots of positive feedback.

11) Cllr�s Morris & Boshell became Exec Support Members alongside having a Deputy Leader as your ward Councillor. This is positive for Winton because it increases the profile of Winton and our knowledge to be of more help to residents.

12) Surgeries continue and large number of requests for support particularly in relation to housing with the emergence of City West Housing Trust.

13) Campaigning has continued throughout the year both in our ward and across Salford with two bi elections in Irwell & Riverside and Pendlebury.Labour was successful and faced BMP candidates in both seats.

Councillor Margaret Morris ends a successful year as Mayor of Salford and has raised over �38,000 for charities.
